I Want to Change My Password

If you ever forget—or simply want to change—your password, you can do so on your own as long as you're able to log into your account. In fact, we recommend changing your password periodically to ensure the security of your account.

There are currently two ways to request a password change:

TIP: We've also written up an article to help you choose a strong password: Choosing a Unique Password

Resetting Your Password via Email

If you've forgotten your password, follow these steps to recover it using the email tied to your account:

From a verified network...

  1. Click here to navigate to the password-reset page.
  2. In the Email field, enter the email address used to log in to your Guild Wars 2 account.
  3. Click Reset Password.
  4. Check your email. You should receive a message with a link to reset your password.
  5. Follow the instructions in the password-reset email to choose a new password.
  6. You're done! Verify your login to make sure it works!

From an unverified network....

  1. Click here to navigate to the password-reset page.
  2. In the Email field, enter the email address used to log in to your Guild Wars 2 account.
  3. Click Reset Password.
  4. Password resets from a new (unlisted) network will require verification of account ownership before you can reset your password.
    • If you have authentication tied to your account, you’ll need to provide an authentication code via email or SMS.
    • If you don’t have authentication on your account, you’ll need to provide your serial code and a character name on the account. Follow these instructions to find your serial code.
  5. Once you've verified ownership of your account, you should receive a message with a link to reset your password.
  6. Follow the instructions in the password-reset email to choose a new password.
  7. You're done! Verify your login to make sure it works!
