The Guild Wars 2 API allows you to share certain info regarding your gameplay with third party applications, allowing developers to create tools for easily viewing account statistics and other data.
You can generate an API key for your account from your account management page under the "Applications" tab.
Troubleshooting API Errors
The most common cause of API errors is generating a key for the incorrect account. If you generate a key for a game account with no character on it, many tools trying to pull data from the API key will report "ErrBadData" or similar.
Please logout of your ArenaNet account in your browser and ensure you have logged in with the correct account at https://account.arena.net/login. If you normally login with Steam or Epic, ensure that you select the option to log in with your preferred platform.
If you are experiencing errors and you are certain your API key was generated from the correct account, it is possible the API service is experiencing a temporary outage, or there is another issue with your account or the tool you are using.
