With the February 3rd, 2026 patch, Fashion Templates were introduced to help players save and share the sets they've pieced together through the use of the gear transmutation system. These new templates allow players to save multiple sets of fashion to quickly swap between them, and to export and share their creations with other players.
For a brief overview of the new system’s functionality, please see the additional FAQ posted by our community team here.
System Introduction
The Fashion Templates feature provides you with tabs where you can store various cosmetic loadouts (combinations of armor, weapon, and backpack skins, as well as any selected dyes) to easily apply them again in the future.
The interface for Fashion Templates will look familiar if you have played with the Equipment Template system previously. When you navigate to the renamed "Fashion" tab in your Hero Panel and into the "Wardrobe" section, you'll see your available Fashion Template slots along the top.
Similar to the existing transmutation system, saving a Fashion Template will cost 1 Transmutation Charge per item changed. For example, changing all armor slots will cost you 6 Transmutation Charges, while changing just a single weapon will cost 1 Transmutation Charge.
As before, changing the dyes applied to these cosmetic loadouts can be done entirely for free, and any equipment slot for which you own a piece of legendary gear can also be transmuted without paying a Transmutation Charge.
Changing a character’s equipped Outfit can similarly be done without costing a Transmutation Charge. Outfits are selected via the topmost cosmetic slot (above the selected head cosmetic) and override all other armor cosmetics currently in use on the equipped Fashion Template. As was the case previously, you will need to select the checkbox in the corner of the equipped item’s thumbnail to enable (or disable) it, and ensure you have clicked “Apply to equipment” to reflect the changes on your character in the game world once you have closed the Hero panel.
For example, if you choose to change your equipped dyes to something more festive for Wintersday (but choose to keep the equipped weapon and armor skins the same,) these changes will be free, just as they have always been.
If you have a legendary helmet and gloves equipped and change the skins applied to all six armor slots, saving the changes will cost only 4 Transmutation Charges, since both the legendary helmet and legendary gloves can be transmuted for free.
All accounts start with two Fashion Template tabs per character, with the ability to purchase seven additional tabs from the in-game Gem Store (for a total of nine slots.) These slots are unlocked account-wide; buying an additional Fashion Template slot from the Gem Store will give an additional slot to ALL characters on your account.
Clicking on any cosmetic slot while in the Wardrobe panel will show you a collection of your unlocked skins for that slot and allow you to begin customizing your character's cosmetic loadout.
Clicking on any skin will preview it on your player model in the main window and allow you to begin mixing and matching skins and test your dye selections.
You will not be charged Transmutation Charges until you click the "Save" button in the top right of the panel, and the highlighted yellow box will give you an overview of the cost of your selected changes. Make sure you click the "Save" button when you're done making your changes to ensure that your cosmetic selections are saved.
You also have the option to "Reset" your pending changes. This will revert the selections in the currently-selected Fashion Template to their previously saved state.
Clicking "Save" after making changes to your Fashion Template is the only time you will be charged Transmutation Charges.
Applying a saved Fashion Template to any gear set is entirely free, meaning you can take advantage of your newly saved cosmetic loadout to continue using your saved style even as you receive gear of a higher level or rarity, or when you decide to try a new build without having to spend Transmutation Charges to apply skins to your newly acquired gear like you would have previously.
To apply a saved Fashion Template to your currently equipped gear, just select the Fashion Template you want to use and click "Apply to equipment." This will not cost any Transmutation Charges and will transmute your currently equipped gear to use the selected skins.
You also have the option to "Apply on equipment change" using the checkbox at the top left of the panel, above the panel containing your unlocked gear skins and/or dyes. If this box is checked, the last applied Fashion Template (indicated with the yellow bookmark icon on its numbered tab at the top of the screen) will AUTOMATICALLY be applied to any new gear you swap into, whether that swap is simply changing a single piece of gear or swapping to another one of your equipment templates.
Please be aware that this will completely OVERWRITE any cosmetics currently applied to that equipment. Only enable this option if you are sure you want to use the selected Fashion Template across all of your gear sets, and if you are okay losing the cosmetic loadouts currently applied to that gear.
Copying, Sharing, and Editing Fashion Templates
Right-clicking on any of your Fashion Template tabs from within the Wardrobe menu will provide you with a list of options to further edit or share your stored templates:
The functionality of each of these options is explained more below:
- Copy Wardrobe Template: This option will copy the selected Fashion Template in the form of a string of text characters. This template can then be pasted into another Fashion Template tab (see below,) shared in the in-game chat with other players, or saved out of game to use later.
- Paste Wardrobe Template: If you have copied a exported Fashion Template (above,) clicking the Paste option will import it to the currently selected tab. Note that this will not automatically save the imported Fashion Template - you will still need to spend Transmutation Charges to save and use the imported template.
- Inspect: This option will open a small preview window showing the skins and dyes used in the selected Fashion Template and an additional button to copy the Fashion Template.
- Rename: Allows you to name your Fashion Templates to help you identify the cosmetic loadouts you have stored.
- Clear Fashion Template: Will completely remove the cosmetics stored in the selected Fashion Template slot, allowing you to start fresh with an empty template. You will be prompted to confirm removal, so you cannot accidentally wipe a Fashion Template with a single click.
- Get Equipped Fashion: Allows you to import the appearances of your character's currently worn equipment skins to save as a Fashion Template without the need to spend Transmutation Charges. By importing your current fashion into the Fashion Template interface, you’ll be able to continue making changes as you see fit by swapping out individual cosmetic pieces or updating your selected dyes. As was the case prior to this update, changing the dyes on equipped cosmetic pieces is entirely free, while updating the cosmetic skin will cost one Transmutation Charge per updated slot (except when transmuting a slot for which you have a corresponding legendary gear piece available.)
Further options are available when right-clicking an individual cosmetic slot:
- Clear: Will remove the selected cosmetic from the current Fashion Template.
- Apply this slot: Will apply the individual skin saved in this individual slot to the cosmetics currently worn by the character with no Transmutation Charge cost. The option will be greyed out and unable to be used if the character is already wearing the selected cosmetic item. In the example screenshot above, the character is currently wearing a different outfit but clicking “Apply this slot” will allow the character to wear the cosmetic equipped in this slot with Fashion Template 2 equipped, even though the cosmetic in question is saved to Fashion Template 1.
Initial Setup
When logging into any character and accessing the Wardrobe panel for the first time after this update, you will be presented with the following pop-up, allowing you to save your currently equipped gear to one of your Fashion Template slots:
Clicking "Yes" will allow you to save the current cosmetics the character has equipped to one of the template slots without consuming any transmutation charges, and you can use the “Get Equipped Fashion” option (accessed by right clicking any of your Fashion Template slots) to additionally import the current appearances of any other gear sets you may have for free.
Regardless of which option you select, the skins and dye selections currently used on any gear sets you customized prior to this patch should not be affected or lost due to these updates. This means that if you have three different gear sets saved that each used different skins and dyes - one set of fashion for your damage dealing build, one for your healing set, and a third for role playing in your Homestead - those equipment slots will all retain the cosmetic skins and dye options that you previously had equipped to them prior to this update; your damage dealing set will retain its selected appearances, as will your healing and role playing sets, unless you specifically choose to overwrite them by applying a different Fashion Template while those gear pieces are equipped.
