Janthir Wilds is ArenaNet’s fifth major expansion pack to Guild Wars 2, releasing on August 20, 2024. The expansion introduces a number of new areas and features to the base game:

A: Yes. Janthir Wilds is a paid expansion to Guild Wars 2.
When you purchase Janthir Wilds, you will unlock access to a new story, new maps, new masteries, and more. You'll also have access to any future updates and releases for Janthir Wilds. There are no additional subscription fees to play Guild Wars 2, which means that once you own it, it's yours to explore!
Q: Do I need to buy a copy of the core Guild Wars 2 game to play the expansion?
A: Nope! The core Guild Wars 2 game is available to play for free, and purchasing the expansion includes the entire core world and all of its features!
If you are using a free account, purchasing the expansion will automatically upgrade your Guild Wars 2 account and unlock all the core game has to offer. Janthir Wilds even comes with a max-level boost to help you level-up and equip one character with everything you need to play the expansion content right away.
Q: Is Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, End of Dragons, and Secrets of the Obscure included when I buy Janthir Wilds?
A: No. The Heart of Thorns, Path of Fire, End of Dragons, and Secrets of the Obscure expansions are not included with Janthir Wilds.

Q: Will there be a collector’s edition for Janthir Wilds?
A: While there will not be a physical collector's edition for Janthir Wilds, the Digital Deluxe and Ultimate editions offer additional digital items beyond the base game. You can find those editions (along with a list of all the items you’ll receive) on our official site.
Q: What if I have a Steam account?
A: Please visit the Steam Store to purchase for your Steam account.
Please note that Steam only carries the Guild Wars 2: Janthir Wilds Prepurchase Bundle, which is equivalent to the Standard Edition.
You can upgrade to the Deluxe edition by purchasing the Deluxe Edition upgrade in the in-game store for 2,400 gems. The upgrade will become available after you purchase the standard edition of the expansion, in the "Upgrades" section of the Black Lion Trading Company. You can also purchase additional gems in the in-game store.
