Verifying Dedicated GPU Usage

In cases where a system has multiple graphics cards, there may be instances where the integrated GPU is utilized instead of the dedicated GPU.

To ensure that your device consistently utilizes the dedicated GPU when launching the Guild Wars 2 client, follow the steps below:

NVIDIA


  1. Right-click on your desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel" from the context menu.
  2. In the NVIDIA Control Panel, navigate to "Manage 3D Settings" from the left-hand menu.
  3. Under the "Global Settings" tab, locate the "Preferred graphics processor" option.
  4. In the drop-down menu, select "High-performance NVIDIA processor"
  5. Click on the "Apply" button to save the changes.

AMD


  1. Press Windows key search for “Graphics Settings”
  2. Under “Graphics performance preference” select “Browse”
  3. Locate the Guild Wars 2 client “Gw2-64.exe” and select “Add”
  4. Press “Options”
  5. Select “High performance” and hit “Save”

Once the settings has been applied, here are steps to verify if the dedicated GPU is already being utilized:

  1. Launch Guild Wars 2.
  2. Access the Task Manager by pressing ‘CTRL+SHIFT+ESC’ simultaneously.
  3. Right-click on the column headers and enable "GPU engine".
    • Take note of the engine that is running for Guild Wars 2.
  4. Navigate to the "Performance" tab and cross-check if the dedicated "GPU engine" is being utilized.
